AEW had a lot of things going on at Full Gear, but the Texas Death Match between Adam Page and Swerve Strickland really took the cake. Many fans were commenting about the match, for better or worse, the next day. Now we have even more info.
Ringside News provided complete coverage of AEW Full Gear. The Texas Deathmatch caused a lot of conversations, including one spot where Hangamn Page drank Swerve Strickland’s blood.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW’s producer for that match approved the blood drinking spot. Hangman spit the blood in the air and that was apparently okay by them before the match, as they got it approved.
One particular spot that got a lot of attention, for better or worse, was Hangman Page drinking Swerve’s blood, then spitting it out. It led to many questions as to whether or not the spot was planned, and/or approved.
We can confirm that the day following AEW Full Gear, Fightful was informed that the spot was planned and pitched by the participants, and was approved by the match producer. We’re told that people within AEW were very happy how the match was received and executed.
Jim Cornette lambasted the entire Texas Deathmatch at AEW Full Gear. Then Swerve Strickland thanked Cornette for bringing so much more attention to his match.
The Texas Deathmatch wasn’t for everyone, but it certainly got fans talking. We will have to see what AEW tries next to push the envelope, but you never know what will happen next.
