Randy Orton made his big return to WWE on Monday night, and fans in the building for the November 20th episode of the red brand got quite a show. Cody Rhodes didn’t even have to say Randy Orton’s name, but everyone knew he was talking about The Viper. That was not intended to tease anyone about CM Punk’s return.
CM Punk rumors are still popping up all over the place. A WWE executive recently weighed in on whether the company was trying to erase CM Punk’s legacy. That is not the case, but he was still removed from the backstage area during a recent drop-in while WWE was in Chicago.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightfu’s paywall that Randy Orton’s reveal was not intended to tease CM Punk in any fashion. Many fans took it that way, because they are wanting to see the Second City Savior once again.
Randy Orton’s reveal was done intentionally as to not make fans believe CM Punk would be the partner.
While you can never say never in pro wrestling, there are no talks between CM Punk and WWE at this juncture. That being said, the company is doing just fine selling out Chicago’s Allstate Arena without him on the card.
We will have to see if CM Punk ever makes a return to WWE. That doesn’t seem to be in the cards right now, but some fans will keep hoping for that day to come.
