Lex Luger was one of the top stars in WWE and WCW during the 80s and 90s, as his incredible physique and charisma made him a genuinely beloved Superstar. However, his absence in the WWE Hall of Fame continues to shock fans.
While speaking on the Lex Expressed podcast, Lex Luger talked about not getting a WWE Hall of Fame induction. He stated that an induction would be a huge honor, adding that many feel he is already in the Hall of Fame, which isn’t the case.
“It would be enormous. It’d be a huge honor. Absolutely. I get asked that question a lot. A lot of guys go, ‘Wait a second. You’re not in?’ A lot of people think I’m already in. A lot of people will introduce me as a Hall of Famer. They say WWE and I go ‘Well, no, actually I’m not a WWE Hall of Famer yet.'”
Lex Luer added that he doesn’t know why he still isn’t inducted into the WWE Hall of Famer yet. Luger acknowledged that some things that happened out of the ring might have blocked him from getting inducted. He added that if a certain controversial incident was the reason for him getting snubbed, then he perfectly understands.
“I don’t know if that’s a factor or not, but it may be controversial. Some people felt like the wrestling world kind of shunned me for quite a while over some of the things that happened outside of the ring that we can obviously go into at the proper time when we want to in the future.
So if I never get in, I still look back fondly with my career and what I did accomplish, but man, it definitely would be the whipped cream and cherry on top and a huge honor if I ever do.“
The controversial incident he was referring to was likely to do with his struggles with substance abuse. In a 2003 WWF Confidential episode, Luger and Miss Elizabeth’s decline, coupled with drug-related challenges leading to her tragic death, were discussed.
This particular episode left some fans with the misconception that Luger was responsible for her death. It’s important to note that Luger was never charged in connection to her death, as investigations determined that Elizabeth had overdosed. Regardless, Even Jim Ross believes he should be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, so we’ll have to see if it will happen in the end.
