At the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event, Logan Paul took on Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship. Paul displayed limitless athleticism and even defeated Mystero to become the new champion. This cemented him as a big deal in the company and now Paul even replaced Mysterio on the WWE website banner.
As seen on last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Santos Escobar attacked Rey Mysterio – turning heel in the process. This was a way to write him off WWE television as Rey Mysterio recently underwent knee surgery.
WWE’s website page has updated a couple of pages where Mysterio was featured for a wide variety of reasons, largely due to his losing the US title and being out of action due to injury.
For those who don’t know, the ‘WWE Shows’ page features banners for Raw, NXT and SmackDown with each banner featuring six stars from that particular brand – notifying who the top stars are there. In that section, Logan Paul has now replaced Rey Mysterio for Smackdown.
There’s also a banner on the ‘WWE Superstars’ page that currently features 24 WWE stars. Rey Mysterio was a part of it but got replaced by Logan Paul there as well, making it clear WWE sees big things in The Maverick.
Rey Mysterio is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks after the surgery. It is likely he will begin feuding with either Santos Escobar or Logan Paul upon his return, so we’ll have to see what WWE has planned for him.
