CM Punk’s name is still churning in the rumor mill, and on the betting odds sheet for Survivor Series, despite the fact that numerous credible outlets have reported that there are no talks between the Second City Savior and WWE. It seems that in the quest to spin anything they can, Nick Aldis’ words were twisted a bit, and now he is speaking out.
WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis addressed the inaccurate reporting of his recent interview comments regarding CM Punk. Aldis made an appearance on the BBC Radio Norfolk show, and a segment of his conversation about CM Punk was shared on social media by a presenter.
During the shared clip, Nick Aldis discussed the possibility of CM Punk making a return to WWE and stated that it could be a mutually beneficial business move for all parties involved.
This clip went viral, and not in the way Nick Aldis intended. At this point, it has garnered over 896,000 views as of the current moment, Aldis took to Twitter to convey his disappointment with the situation.
I’m disappointed that this answer is edited out of context, considering it’s the BBC. For the record, I have no dog in the fight, and that situation is above my paygrade. Be better journalists.
For the record, Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE’s mindset about CM Punk’s return isn’t likely to change due to fans chanting for him at events. There were CM Punk chants heard during WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. CM Punk chants also popped up during Shinsuke Nakamura vs Akira Tozawa’s match on RAW. That being said, WWE realizes that fans are chanting for CM Punk. That doesn’t mean WWE is any closer to inking a new deal with CM Punk.
We will have to see if CM Punk ever makes a return to WWE, because nothing is impossible in pro wrestling. Only time will tell if that happens, but fans shouldn’t be holding their breath for it to go down any time soon.
Nick Aldis probably realizes that CM Punk’s return to WWE isn’t going to happen imminently. This is why he had to clarify those statements. He handled things appropriately, while dousing the hopes that CM Punk will return to WWE at the end of the month.
