MJF grabbed the attention of the pro wrestling business as a bona fide heel, with an old-school persona able to get heat by any means. Now, as “Our Scumbag,” MJF is off to the races as AEW World Champion, and breaking records with his reign. The upcoming Bidding War of 2024 is also capturing a lot of interest from the pro wrestling world.
Ric Flair had a glowing review after meeting MJF for the first time this week. The Nature Boy posted a photo of MJF along with a caption that said, “OMG! He Has THE GIFT! I’m Honored To Have Met You. Looking Forward To Working With You & Our Relationship Going Forward. You’ve Got A Gift That So Few Have! You’re Special! WOOOOO!“
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, MJF spoke about his contract negotiations with AEW and said that CEO Tony Khan is ‘trying his hardest’ to keep him. It stands to reason that MJF is commanding a hefty paycheck with his next deal, and he knows that Tony Khan is going to have to pay him a lot to keep him around.
“Tony Khan is definitely trying his hardest to keep me here. There are a lot of things about All Elite Wrestling that I like, but there’s also a lot of things about WWE that I like. What I’m most interested in is money.”
It stands to reason that WWE would want MJF at this point, because his talents could be inserted into many places throughout the company. While WWE provides many opportunities, AEW also gave MJF his big break in the pro wrestling business. Now, it appears that 2024 will be quite a year for contract talks.
