CM Punk was released by AEW, and that added a huge name to the free agent market. He hasn’t popped up anywhere yet, but his name is still getting a lot of attention, whenever the conversation is breached that he may jump to another company after Tony Khan fired him.

During his 83 Weeks show, Eric Bischoff pointed out that WWE doesn’t need CM Punk. They are doing record numbers for television all over the place, and the need is not there to bring in someone like Punk. Survivor Series in Chicago, while the location seems perfect, will not see CM Punk’s return to the company.

Eric Bischoff went on to say that a WrestleMania return is more likely for CM Punk’s comeback. Although that seems unlikely as well, but Mania is certainly a bigger event with a larger stage for such a moment.

“They don’t really need it for Survivor Series in Chicago. It’s already a sell-out and they don’t need him. WWE doesn’t need him. Now, Royal Rumble going into WrestleMania, I could buy that as a possibility, because it makes sense. They don’t need Punk. There is absolutely zero need for him. However, that surge you would get, the buzz going into WrestleMania. That is a period of time that you want every bit of buzz that you can get, but I don’t think it will happen in Chicago.”

CM Punk is still teasing WarGames, and AEW as well. He is not The Devil in AEW, and he doesn’t appear to be in any plan WWE is hatching, either.

We will have to see what happens at Survivor Series on November 25th. It will be quite a show, and you never know what you will see happen when WWE presents those huge events. That being said, CM Punk’s return to the company certainly isn’t needed to keep up their current momentum.
