MJF is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in the world of professional wrestling right now thanks to his incredible character work and in-ring skills. He had an exceptional match with Kenny Omega on Collision last month and now it has been revealed that MJF himself pushed for the match with Omega.

MJF defended the AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega in the main event of last month’s episode of AEW Collision. It turned out to be as excellent as fans expected, with both competitors giving it their all in the ring in order to win.

In the end, MJF defeated Omega and confirmed that he would become the longest-reigning AEW World Champion in history. While speaking to  Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, The Salt of The Earth revealed that he pushed for the match with Omega, effectively being responsible for the match taking place.

I wanted a match with Kenny Omega, the best in the world in a pay-per-view main event–but on free television because I’m salt of the earth. That is the best match in Collision history and one of the best in AEW history.

I couldn’t be more grateful that Kenny gave me that opportunity.”

Despite that, Eric Bischoff questioned why the match took place without any proper buildup. MJF is set to defend his AEW World Championship against Jay White at the Full Gear pay-per-view this week, so it remains to be seen whether he will be able to successfully retain his title at the event.
