Santos Escobar turned heel on Rey Mysterio, and now Mr. 6-1-9 is out of action. The WWE Hall of Famer had surgery on his knee, and he will be out for several weeks. It appears that this is all part of the plan.

Santos Escobar worked as a babyface and heel throughout his career. The fact that he turned heel on Rey Mysterio will only open a new chapter for his time in WWE.

PW Insider noted that Santos Escobar turning on Rey Mysterio had nothing to do with his injury. This was always supposed to happen, it’s just unfortunate timing that Rey Mysterio won’t get to work live events against Escobar.

We’ve had some readers ask if the Santos Escobar turn was something that happened because of the injury.  We are told that it was always planned and had Rey not gotten hurt, they would gone right into live events doing Rey vs. Escobar.
