John Cena’s return to WWE is over, and he teased retirement in a huge way since then. He needs surgery on both of his elbows now, which he was quick to let fans know about. Now, WWE fans will have to wait a very long time for his return, but odds are John Cena isn’t 100% finished yet.
Ringside News exclusively reported that John Cena’s last return to WWE was sparked by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA Strike. That work stoppage in Hollywood is coming to an end, and Cena is needed in Hollywood the moment he can get back on set.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about John Cena’s last return to the ring. It took a lot out of Cena, even though he didn’t wrestle very often at all. That being said, he needed surgeries on both of his elbows when everything was said and done.
“He might do a comeback next year, but now that the strike’s over, the only reason he’s back is because of the strike. He fulfilled his commitments and everything. He’s having surgery on both elbows, so you know, that’s you know, he didn’t do a lot. He really didn’t wrestle a lot, but he still ended up with two surgeries, so that says that maybe he won’t do. It’s not like he was doing anything crazy in the ring again. I would expect him to do a WrestleMania match or something like that, and maybe sporadic TVs, but not a whole hell of a lot.”
We will have to see if John Cena every makes a return for a longer stretch of time. It appears that he has wrapped up this run, and he won’t be back for a while. Only time will tell if her gets another big win in a singles match, but he certainly gave his all at Crown Jewel in that match against Solo Sikoa.
John Cena certainly teased retirement, and he needed surgery on both of his elbows after that short comeback. At this point, Hollywood is a much more attractive place for him, because those roles don’t take as much out of him physically.
