TJ Wilson took a Muscle Buster from Samoa Joe and ended up injuring his neck in 2015. The injury turned out to be life-threatening and Wilson was forced to retire from pro wrestling. Now Wilson made a very interesting statement regarding his in-ring capabilities.

After retiring from in-ring competition, TJ Wilson found a new lease on his career after becoming a producer. In fact, he is now revered as one of the best producers WWE ever got, especially when it comes to women’s matches.

While speaking on the Insight podcast, TJ Wilson talked about his life after retiring from the squared circle. Wilson stated that he can still do 99% of a move but simply can’t take a bump anymore.

I know they say never say never, but I’ve been saying never for the last eight years. No, the truth is I can do probably, in some things, 99% of the move I just can’t do the actual bump. And I’m sure I could maybe take a couple [of bumps] but at what cost? I don’t know, I haven’t taken one.

I get that. I get those messages a lot, and I get that mindset. I understand where that comes from. I believe Steve Austin has the second-highest, at least in terms of WWE wrestlers, as to how high their fusion is. His was C3 and C4. Most are C5 and C6 or C6 and C7. Mine was C1 and C2. The very top two vertebrae in your body, mine are fused. That’s the difference.”

TJ Wilson previously stated that working as a WWE producer helped him cope with retirement. Wilson is a highly respected figure backstage and the talents love working with him, which is what matters to him the most right now. Regardless, it is unlikely he will ever compete in the ring again and fans have to accept that fact by now.
