WWE has their eye on the entire pro wrestling world. You never know who they will offer a deal to next, but the company isn’t for everyone, despite the amazing opportunities they can present.
Hikuleo, the son of the legendary professional wrestler King Haku, and the younger sibling of Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, naturally found his place in BULLET CLUB when he joined the Guerrillas of Destiny in 2018. WWE was apparently interested in him as well, although he remained with NJPW.
In the notes from Hikuleo’s interview with Fightful, it was posted behind their paywall that WWE was very interested in him. There were talks, and he had the potential of leaving WWE, but that didn’t happen.
“The former NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion said the Loser Leaves Japan match at New Year’s Dash was interesting because the rumors of outside interest that Fightful reported added more value to the match. Hikuleo did confirm Fightful’s report that there was talk about him possibly going to the WWE. He did confirm that there were talks with WWE, and he said they weighed their options about potentially leaving NJPW. However, he feels like they are supposed to be where they are. When he saw the rumors of WWE interest online, he was checking his phone to make sure he hadn’t told anyone he shouldn’t have told. Sapp indicated to Hikuleo that WWE sources actually informed him.“
We will have to see if Hikuleo ever ends up in WWE. There could be a ton of potential there. If anything, Hikuleo might come back around later on if the opportunity presents itself.
Hikuleo has a ton of talent, and he’s been featured on NJPW and AEW television. WWE certainly realizes this, but the big question remains of whether they will ever land him to a deal.
