Ric Flair Persuaded John Cena to Splurge on Wrestlers’ Drinks with a Lavish Tab

John Cena remains one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling and he did everything he could to earn the favor and respect of those before him. In fact, Ric Flair convinced Cena to spend a ludicrous amount on buying drinks for wrestlers during a WWE tour.

Jonathan Coachman was part of WWE for several years and he worked with top stars in the company, including John Cena. Naturally, he has a lot of interesting stories to tell about his time in WWE as well.

While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Jonathan Coachman revealed that John Cena once spent a ton of money to pay for everyone’s drinks in Europe throughout the entire WWE tour. All in Cena, Cena was said to have paid $70,00 in drinks, after Ric Flair convinced him.

“We used to go to Europe twice a year, April and November 10 days, 10 different shows, and John Cena just became the world champion. Well, Ric Flair got his hooks into him and he’s like, ‘If you’re going to be the world champion, you got to act like a world champion. You got to pay for all the drinks. You’re making the most money.’

I said ‘John how much money have you spent on this trip?’… He goes, ‘Well, I checked my account today and it was 35,000.’ Wow! And I said, ‘$35,000?’ He goes, ‘£35,000!’ which back then, it was like two to one, so it was like $70,000.”

John Cena lost to Solo Sikoa at the WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event in Saudi Arabia last week and seemingly hinted at retirement right after that. We’ll have to wait and see whether Cena will return to WWE again or if he is truly done with being a WWE Superstar for good.
