WWE is going through a booming period, and a lot of things are changing. Big money deals are going down for the company’s television rights, and now RAW and NXT are no longer on the same network.

The USA Network is getting WWE SmackDown in 2024. That deal will start in October. That means the USA Network will not keep NXT around, and the company has now confirmed a previous report that NXT will go to The CW.

The CW Network and WWE have joined forces to bring WWE NXT to a broader audience as part of an exciting new partnership. Starting in October 2024, The CW Network will serve as the official broadcast home for WWE NXT, marking the first time in WWE NXT’s 13-year history that it will be featured on a broadcast television network. This agreement solidifies a five-year commitment to air 52 live weekly events throughout the season.

Nick Khan, WWE President, commended The CW’s remarkable strides in its live sports programming schedule over the past year. This partnership presents an exciting opportunity to introduce WWE NXT to a broader audience by making it available on broadcast television for the first time in its history.

“The CW has made impressive moves over the past year with its live sports programming schedule. It’s a truly exciting opportunity to expand NXT’s audience by bringing the show to broadcast television for the first time in NXT’s history.”

WWE NXT, which was launched by WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque in 2012, has consistently showcased the brightest young talent in sports entertainment. It has played a significant role in developing WWE Superstars, including Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch, with almost 90% of participants in last year’s WrestleMania emerging from the NXT program.

The popularity of WWE NXT among younger audiences is evident, as it ranked No. 1 in cable primetime on Tuesday nights last quarter among adults aged 18-49 and 18-34. Notably, NXT’s average viewership has increased by 30% among adults aged 18-49 year-to-date.

The addition of WWE NXT to The CW Network’s growing roster of live sports programming complements their offerings of ACC football and basketball games airing every Saturday throughout the season and LIV Golf. The CW Network has also secured rights to broadcast the NASCAR Xfinity Series, beginning in 2025. This collaboration underscores The CW Network’s commitment to providing over 500 hours of sports programming year-round.

This move to The CW is a big deal, because it will dramatically increase NXT’s potential viewer base. We will keep a close eye on this story, and everything else in the pro wrestling world, right here at Ringside News.
