Mercedes Mone worked hard to establish herself as one of the most recognizable female pro wrestlers in the world right now. She made her way to NJPW and STARDOM – becoming a major star in Japan. Mone has been out of action due to a broken ankle injury and now an update on her recovery has been provided.
Mercedes Mone squared off against Willow Nightingale at the NJPW Resurgence event on May 21st, in order to crown the first NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion. While Mone lost the match, she also suffered an ankle injury and had to be carried to the back.
Mercedes Mone underwent surgery for the injury and has since been recuperating. While speaking to WrestlePurists, NJPW STRONG booker Rocky Romero revealed that the last time he heard, Mone was said to be recovering well.
”I honestly don’t have any update right now (on Mercedes Moné). I hope that I’ll be talking to her agent and her maybe soon-ish, but I honestly don’t have any update yet about anything. The last thing I had heard was that she was recovering well and basically they were gonna let me know, reach out when she was getting close to a comeback so, yeah.”
There is also an indication that Mercedes Mone could be making her pro wrestling return soon. When she does, Tony Khan will certainly try his best to get her to debut in AEW, so we’ll have to see when that will happen.
