MJF is still AEW World Champion, and there is a long list of challengers lining up to face him. This week on Dynamite, The Salt of the Earth will defend that title once again.
AEW is ready to establish a company record with a significant match scheduled for the November 8th episode of Dynamite in Portland, Oregon. There are a lot of records that they can flaunt, but this one is also an example of how young their roster is.
After his victory over Trent Beretta on the November 3rd AEW Rampage, Daniel Garcia grabbed a microphone and issued a challenge to AEW World Champion MJF for a title match on Dynamite. Naturally, MJF didn’t back down from the challenge.
Despite MJF already managing numerous rivalries, he opted to accept Garcia’s challenge, confirming his decision on Twitter. This was a bit of a surprise for some fans who didn’t see that defense coming.
This company was built on the backs of young men who chose to be ELITE.
Well Danny. You want a brush with greatness. I just got off the phone with our boss.
This Wednesday night.
The present will defend his title against the future. You’re on.
This is a big match for AEW, and it also shows how the company may be building toward their future. This is going to be the first world title match in AEW history with wrestlers both under the age of 30. That being said, there is a lot of anticipation for the match.
In case you’re wondering, this set a new record for both competitors being under 30, but it isn’t the youngest combined ages for a World Title match. The youngest combo is still Hangman Page, who was 30 years, 7 months at the time, vs Dante Martin, who was 21 years at the time, in their March 9th, 2022 match.
We will have to see how things pan out in this situation. AEW is gearing up for a big week, and they just may break records in the process.
