There is no doubt that Bryan Danielson is one of the most established names in the world of professional wrestling right now. He challenged Kazuchika Okada for a match at Wrestle Kingdom 18 recently via a video screen and now it appears that was not the original plan whatsoever.

The American Dragon is currently dealing with a broken orbital bone, which he suffered during his match with Andrade El Idolo a while ago. Many fans believed this meant he was not competing at Wrestle Kingdom 18.

That was not the case as Bryan Danielson challenged The Rainmaker to a match at Wrestle Kingdom 18 during the company’s Power Struggle event in Osaka, which was shown in a video.

According to a report by Sports Illustrated, Bryan Danielson challenging Kazuchika Okada via a video was not the original plan. Danielson was scheduled to issue the challenge in person to Okada, but his injury changed that plan.

The original plan for Power Struggle, multiple sources confirmed to Sports Illustrated, is that Danielson was scheduled to issue the challenge in-person to Okada. Yet the injury prevented him from flying to Japan. Given these set of circumstances, an audible was called and the decision was made for Danielson to challenge Okada through a video.”

We will have to wait and see whether Bryan Danielson will be fully healed by the time Wrestle Kingdom 18 takes place next year, as he needs to be in great form to battle Kazuchika Okada.
