WWE geared up for Crown Jewel in the best way that they could, and that called for a pre-taped SmackDown this week. With their return to FOX from last week’s episode of FS1, they still saw a huge viewership upswing despite the taped aspect.
Ringside News provided comprehensive coverage of the pre-taped November 3rd episode of WWE SmackDown. They made a few headlines, and brought a big show to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
According to Alfred Konuwa, the November 3rd drew an overnight viewership of 2.017 million, with 648K in the 18 to 49 demographic. That number was up significantly from last week’s episode on FS1.
The October 27th episode of WWE SmackDown drew an overnight viewership of 1.077 million, with a 414k of those in the 18 to 49 demographic. That number was way down from last week, but SmackDown also aired this episode on FS1 due to the 2023 MLB World Series. It is notable that both of those numbers are up from the last time WWE aired SmackDown on FS1.
This week’s episode of SmackDown on November 3rd was quite a show to lead toward Crown Jewel. Kevin Owens defeated Austin Theory using his signature move, the stunner, while Grayson Waller provided commentary. In a non-title bout, Shotzi and Charlotte Flair partnered to overcome Piper Niven and Chelsea Green.
Solo Sikoa, accompanied by Paul Heyman, delivered a promo ahead of his match against John Cena at Crown Jewel. Cena engaged in a verbal exchange with Sikoa and landed a significant blow, leaving Sikoa incapacitated. Pretty Deadly secured a victory in a Donnybrook match against the Brawling Brutes. LA Knight discussed his upcoming showdown with Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel, with Reigns making an appearance, resulting in a tense verbal confrontation. Referees intervened to prevent physical altercations.
In the main event match, Bianca Belair won a hard-fought match against Bayley and sent a powerful message by putting Bayley through the announce table. Belair is set to challenge IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s Championship at Crown Jewel 2023.
The October 20th episode of WWE SmackDown drew an overnight average of 2.159 million viewers, which is slightly down from the previous week’s 2.35 million number. They also brought in a 768k in the 18 to 49 demographic.
