Drake Bell Surprises Fans with Unannounced Appearance at Mexican Pro Wrestling Event

The pro wrestling world has seen a lot of celebrities step in the ring. Now, Drake Bell is going to try his hand in the squared circle.

Former child actor Drake Bell made a surprise appearance at the Mexico-based IWRG promotion’s Castillo del Terror, which translates to Castle of Terror, event held at the Naucalpan Arena in Juarez, Chihuahua. It’s unknown why he was in the area, but he has a lot of business in Mexico.

During the event, Drake Bell removed his mask, which elicited a loud and positive reaction from the live audience. He expressed gratitude to those in attendance for inviting him and professed his love for lucha libre. Bell then asked the fans if they were ready and introduced DMT Azul.

At the event, DMT Azul competed in an Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship match against opponents Galeno del Mal, Ivan Rokoff, and El Hijo del Pirata Morgan. Azul emerged victorious, becoming one of the promotion’s biggest stars.

A clip of Drake Bell in the ring was shared to social media. The caption, when translated from Spanish read, “Drake being more Mexican than me. I have never been to the fights.”

Although Drake Bell’s popularity took a nosedive in recent memory in the United States, he is still big in Mexico. Bell tops their music charts, and he is loved by those fans who didn’t cast him aside after he pleaded guilty to felony attempted child endangerment.

Before that incident, Drake Bell faced arrest in December 2015 on charges of driving under the influence. In September 2016, Bell entered a guilty plea, leading to a sentence of four days in jail and four years of probation. As part of his probation, he was mandated to participate in an alcohol education program. Notably, Bell’s jail time was reduced to just one day due to his good behavior during his sentence. Drake Bell is still big in Mexico, and it appears that he is welcomed by their pro wrestling fans as well.
