WWE is doing everything they can to draw viewership, but this week’s episode of RAW was a very tough outing. Fans just didn’t seem to tune in, especially for the main event, because there was some stiff sports competition on other channels.
Ringside News provided comprehensive coverage of WWE RAW this week. October 30th’s WWE RAW on the USA Network, was watched by 1,390,000 viewers on average, including about 570,000 aged 18 to 49, for a 0.43 P18-49 rating.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer remarked that WWE RAW actually made history with their main event match this week. They only garnered 1.2 million viewers, which is a record low for all previous RAW main event matches.
“One of the things that RAW did set a record for is the Damian Priest and Sami Zayn match, which did 1.2 million viewers, was the least-watched main event in the history of RAW, ever.”
According to Sports TV Ratings, Monday Night Football, which was the Raiders vs. Lions, averaged 15.2 million viewers across ESPN and ABC. Game 3 of the World Series aired on Fox, also in prime-time, averaging 8.1 million viewers. Obviously, that was some big-time competition this week for RAW.
We will have to see if WWE RAW takes another big hit like this, but it took two big games running opposition to the longest running weekly episodic television show in history to cause that kind of dent in the viewership.
