CM Punk’s name still comes up in the pro wrestling world as one of the hottest free agents in the industry. Impact Wrestling would love to have him, but WWE rejected his interest. We can probably scratch an AEW or UFC return off the list, but new information about his MMA career is now coming to light.

According to Bloody Elbow and unsealed UFC lawsuit documents, Punk was paid $1,042,736 for the fight. That may, or may not, be more than some fans expected Punk to have pulled in.

In December 2014, CM Punk signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC, marking his transition to MMA. Nearly two years later, at UFC 203 on September 10th, 2016, he made his MMA debut and suffered a first-round submission loss to Mickey Gall.

For his debut, CM Punk’s disclosed payout was $500,000. However, recently revealed information from unsealed UFC lawsuit documents indicates that he received $1,042,736 for the fight. This revelation is a result of the ongoing class action lawsuit against the UFC, with a trial expected in 2024.

CM Punk returned to the Octagon at UFC 225 on June 9, 2018, where he lost by unanimous decision to Mike Jackson. Later, the decision was overturned to a No Contest due to Jackson testing positive for marijuana. Following this fight, Punk retired from MMA but continued to provide commentary for Cage Fury Fighting Championships.

CM Punk’s UFC journey was a short-lived endeavor. He transitioned from professional wrestling to mixed martial arts with great anticipation, but his performance inside the Octagon showed limitations. With only two fights, he faced defeats in both, highlighting the challenges of adapting to a new combat sport.

We will have to see what CM Punk does next in his career. The Second City Savior is still doing what he wants, and he has the financial freedom to do so. All of those big-money deals along the way really helped him achieve that level of comfort.
