WWE is gearing up for a big 2024, and they are making big plans for global touring as well. Bash in Berlin will emanate from the Mercedes-Benz Arena on Saturday, August 31st, 2024. It appears that WWE may have been inspired to make that move due to another big event going down in the same time frame.
AEW All In London will take over Wembley Stadium once again in 2024 on August 25th. The timing of those two events is very close together, which will make for quite a busy time for pro wrestling fans.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked if WWE is running their Berlin show because of AEW All In London. The veteran pro wrestling journalist replied to say that it may not have been the primary reason, but it certainly could have been “a secondary reason” why they’re doing the event in Germany.
“I don’t think that was the primary reason, but I do think that it’s there. I mean, I think it’s a secondary reason to keep Germans from wanting to go to that [AEW All In London] show, sure. I don’t think that they sat there and said ‘We’re gonna run…’ see, if they were really wanting to do that they’d run the week before to try to screw with the AEW show, but you know that becomes bad, because if they did that, they’re gonna do whatever 13 to 14,000 in Berlin, because it’s not a stadium, that’s all they can do. And AEW is probably gonna draw more than that, a lot more, maybe not a lot more, but more, and possibly a whole lot more. The comparison is that if you’re going to compare it doesn’t look good for WWE, because they didn’t book a stadium, and I don’t know why, but they didn’t. It was whatever it was their decision was that they’re probably not going to draw a stadium crowd.”
We’ll have to see how WWE and AEW do with their big shows overseas in 2024. The timing of Bash in Berlin and All In London is certainly interesting, and only time will tell if we hear about some fans deciding to attend the Berlin event over AEW’s Wembley Stadium show.
Keep checking back with Ringside News for more on this ongoing situation. Both companies are trying hard to capture a fan base in the global market, and it appears that neither one of them are going to back down at this point.
