The Anoa’i Family’s influence on the wrestling landscape extends through generations, and with Roman Reigns at the helm of the Bloodline storyline, they maintain a stronghold in WWE. Within this context, the emergence of another cousin from the Anoa’i Family could add a compelling layer to the ongoing saga.
Lance Anoa’i is now a free agent as MLW let him out of his contract. His tag team partner, Juicy, was also granted his release request. It’s unknown what the two will do next, but WWE is aware of Lance Anoa’i.
Sean Sapp noted during his Backstage Report audio show behind Fightful’s paywall that Lance Anoa’i had a WWE tryout a few years ago. He has also worked a few television taping events in nice spots, but he wasn’t signed.
“WWE has had the opportunity to sign Lance An’oi a number of times. I’m not sure necessarily if there’s a ton of interest there. Im not sure, but I can say that WWE has had the opportunity to sign him a bunch of times. He had a tryout there. He worked for NOAH throughout this year. He worked for WWE three times over the last five years. I know he worked SmackDown with Rhett Titus. He worked NXT against Authors of Pain. Then he worked Shane McMahon and Roman Reigns was involved in that segment as well. He’s not a stranger to WWE. He’s been on their radar for a decade.”
Only time will tell if Lance Anoa’i finally finds his way to WWE, so he can join the Bloodline saga. That situation is still developing every week, and Roman Reigns may need some new backup soon enough.
