AEW has to fill up several hours of television content every week, and it’s really hard to nail things in the first take. This is very true, and now we have video evidence as well.

Behind-the-scenes footage of a backstage promo segment in AEW has surfaced, providing fans with a glimpse of outtakes and raw footage filmed before the final edited version that aired on television. This was quite a little video, and it gives fans an example of what can hit the cutting room floor.

This footage, originally shared by TikTok user nolan_bigwrestlingfan, captures the preparations leading up to the AEW Rampage match between Swerve Strickland and Wheeler Yuta on December 28th, 2022.

As part of the Rampage tradition, Mark Henry conducted a side-by-side interview with both Yuta and Strickland. The final cut seen by viewers is usually polished, but the leaked footage reveals the setup process, with the talent and Henry making multiple attempts to get their promo just right.

While this behind-the-scenes footage is typically not meant for public viewing, AEW recently made headlines for an editing error during AEW Collision in a similar backstage interview segment with Keith Lee. Obviously, fans are having a field day with this on social media, as they do with any video that the company may not want out there.

The amusing footage from the leak suggests that the segment in question required 22 takes to film. Despite a few hiccups, this segment featuring the Blackpool Combat Club, Mark Henry, and Swerve Strickland came across as relatively smooth in comparison. You can check out the video below.
