AEW boasts an impressive roster of in-ring talent, and while it’s a testament to their depth, it also means that not everyone can be in the spotlight all the time. One talent that seems to have been flying under the radar is Abadon, who remains under contract with AEW despite her limited appearances.
Abadon, who inked a deal with AEW back in 2020, has primarily been featured on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation shows. Her most noteworthy feud to date was with Hikaru Shida in November 2020, but since then, her presence in AEW has been sporadic at best.
According to reports from Sean Ross Sapp during a recent Q&A session via Fightful’s paywall, it appears that Abadon is still very much a part of the AEW roster, even though her utilization has been minimal. The reasoning behind this seems to be the desire for her in-ring performance to align better with her character.
Sapp noted, “I was told it was a matter of the in-ring matching the character.” While the specifics of this statement are open to interpretation, it’s evident that AEW has a particular vision in mind for Abadon, and they want her wrestling style to match that vision.
“I know they’re healthy as they’re working on independent shows. Abadon worked an independent show recently and had been out of the ring for quite a while. When I asked early this year, I was told it was a matter of the in-ring matching the character. And I mean, there’s a lot of different ways you can take that, but Abadon’s been signed for over three years. There’s never been any major story associated with Abadon only wrestled two matches this year. I fired off a message when I got this question and had it confirmed that Abadon is still signed with AEW as well but just has not been utilized. And there are a few people who have been utilized less than Abadon this year, but I know they always wanted the in-ring work to step up as well, and Abadon worked really hard to get in shape, I believe, last year as well.”
Despite her limited appearances, it’s worth mentioning that Abadon has been keeping busy on the independent circuit. This not only keeps her in the wrestling world but also allows her to continue honing her skills.
So, what does the future hold for Abadon in AEW? Only time will tell. Fans of her unique and eerie persona will undoubtedly be eager to see her return to the ring and, perhaps, get involved in a compelling storyline. As the saying goes in the world of professional wrestling, “never say never.” We’ll have to wait and see when AEW’s creative team decides to shine the spotlight on Abadon once again.
