Matt Cardona was eventually released by WWE in 2020 and went on to achieve greater success outside the organization. He also made a surprise appearance during TNA’s Bound for Glory event this week and now his status in the company after the appearance has been revealed.

After his WWE release, Matt Cardona truly reinvented himself in the independent circuit. Cardona especially made a name for himself in Impact Wrestling and other promotions. That said, he parted ways with Impact Wrestling (now TNA) in the past.

Matt Cardona made his shocking return at TNA’s Bound for Glory event during the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match. Cardona ended up getting brutalized by Bully Ray and Sonny Kiss before getting eliminated.

According to Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, Matt Cardona’s appearance was a “one-off,” and he has not signed a new deal with the company at this point in time. It was further noted that Cardona is uninterested in signing with the promotion as he is prospering elsewhere.
