AEW is on a mission to reclaim the momentum they had lost since August’s AEW All In event. Their strategy includes collaborating with other promotions, especially CMLL lately. Now Tony Khan has finally commented on AEW’s working relationship with the Mexican promotion, making it clear he is excited about their partnership.
Tony Khan announced last week that the former WWE Superstar and CMLL sensation Mistico, formerly known as Sin Cara, will be making his much-anticipated AEW debut this week on Rampage.
Mistico, who is a massive star in Mexico, will be squaring off against Rocky Romero on Rampage. This spells the beginning of AEW’s partnership with CMLL. In light of this, CMLL recently made an announcement about their partnership with AEW.
“CMLL gives our sincerest thanks to Tony Khan & AEW for the attention given to our talent & our general director Salvador Lutheroth in the Tapings for “AEW Rampage” that took place yesterday in Rosenberg, Texas.
“We wish to reiterate firmly that the collaboration between CMLL & AEW will be fruity & beneficial to both parties, and that it will be the start of a solid relationship. The opportunity to show our talent on an international stage like AEW Rampage has been an honor & a privilege for us.
“We are grateful for the welcoming reception that the AEW fans gave during the one-on-one bout that Mistico & Rocky Romero had, which will be aired on October 20 on TNT at 10/9c.”
AEW President Tony Khan would then respond to CMLL’s official announcement regarding their partnership with AEW, as Khan made it clear he is excited to be working with the legendary Mexican promotion.
