Vince McMahon was the Chairman of WWE for several years and had the final say in everything that went on in the company for decades. That’s no longer the case after WWE and UFC merged to form TKO Holdings. A Netflix documentary based on his life is currently in the works and now the timeline for its release has been disclosed.
WWE announced in 2020 that they teamed up with Netflix to produce a Vince McMahon documentary. Bill Simmons was brought on to helm the project, but then it was suggested the project was scrapped. That was not the case at all as the documentary is still in the works.
While speaking on SI Media With Jimmy Traina, Bill Simmons talked about the upcoming Vince McMahon documentary. Simmons stated that he believes the documentary will be released in the ‘first part’ of 2024.
”Oh yeah (the Vince McMahon documentary is happening). It’s f****** awesome. I think it’s gonna be the first part of next year, and Chris Smith is directing it… I don’t know if he’s one of the five best documentary directors or one of the best three or whatever. Whatever short list it’s on, he’s on it and we spent a lot of time on it and I don’t wanna say too much — yes (I had access to Vince). Well that was the initial conceit of it so I don’t wanna say too much but I will say that I think it has a chance to be pretty spectacular.”
Vince McMahon is also shut out of final editing choices for the upcoming Netflix documentary. We will have to wait and see whether the documentary will cover every controversial aspect of Vince McMahon’s life in the end.
