Pro wrestlers capture the imaginations and emotions of fans while they are in the ring, but they are real people behind the scenes. Sadly, former WCW wrestler Lodi had a rough health issue, where he suffered a heart attack, but now we have an update on his condition.
Former Raven’s Flock member Lodi, who is known for his time in WCW, suffered a heart attack in June during an independent wrestling match. That was a scary scene, and nobody wants a repeat of that performance.
In a recent interview with Developmentally Speaking, Lodi had high spirits, despite his recent health episode. He plans on continuing in pro wrestling despite the cardiac episode. He also put over his opponent in that match, Lucky Ali, whom he believes should be on television soon.
Lodi noted their frequent training together. He recounted the heart attack incident that led to his hospitalization, and that was a scary time. He seems to have no issues recounting this experience as he continues on from it.
“We were wrestling, and I had a heart attack, and four days later, went in for a triple bypass, and they realized that they missed two blockages, so I ended up having a quintuple bypass on June 21.”
Lodi spent the majority of his 11 recovery days in the hospital and plans to refrain from booking wrestling events until January 2024, allowing him time to regain his wrestling condition. He also mentioned his rapid healing abilities, likening them to that of a starfish, and how his surgeon commended his recovery progress.
Despite facing three neck surgeries in his life and receiving opinions from two past neurosurgeons that he would never wrestle again, Lodi remains determined to prove them wrong. As a member of The Flock, he is a part of a stable that many fans would love to see in the WWE Hall of Fame. Only time will tell if that induction ever happens, but you can never say never in pro wrestling.
