AEW has a lot of merchandise, and some of it has taken a few risks along the way. While some t-shirts have been winners, we can’t forget controversies that their bloody apparel has also brought along the way. The Blackpool Combat Club is looking to change that.
Claudio Castagoli shared a concept for a fresh take on the Blackpool Combat Club, moving away from the typical imagery associated with “skulls, blood, and such.” The former Cesaro has quite an idea.
The Blackpool Combat Club member delved into the content of the BCC group chat, highlighting a recent conversation they had. During an interview with Sporf, Castagnoli provided a glimpse into their discussion concerning a Tinkerbell-themed shirt design.
“I think right now we’re trying to figure out, we were talking the other day in our group chat, about a new Blackpool Combat Club shirt. And I think we want to have a slogan, like ‘Be Violent’, but then have like a fairy or something on it, like from a cartoon or from a children’s book or something.”
“We don’t need more skulls on our shirts and blood and stuff. Let’s have something fun paired with something that’s completely, completely different. There would be a Tinker Bell-type thing and then ‘Be Violent’. I think that would be brilliant.”
AEW has brought a ton of attention in the past thanks to their merchandise. The Acclaimed recently dropped a $5k scissors Trios Title replica. We also cannot forget about the public outcry against domestic abuse after Britt Baker’s bloody t-shirt went viral.
We will have to see if the Blackpool Combat Club get any Tinkerbell-type merchandise. Odds are, Disney won’t be giving them a branding agreement, but Sanrio seems more than happy to loan Hello Kitty out to companies for crossover deals.
