AEW President Tony Khan has a lot of passion for the world of professional wrestling, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t done a lot of questionable things over the years. His most recent actions have only further damaged his credibility as the President and now even Jim Cornette believes Tony Khan needs counseling after his recent social media meltdown.
Last week’s episode of NXT beat AEW Dynamite in terms of ratings by a considerable margin, which many fans didn’t find surprising. Before the shows, Tony Khan threw shade at McMahon for his assault allegations. He then went after Vince McMahon once again after AEW Dynamite lost to NXT.
Tony Khan then threw shade at The Undertaker and John Cena for failing to pull enough viewers for NXT. Tony Khan then stated that WWE avatar accounts attacked his mother after a near-death experience.
While speaking on Jim Cornette’s Drive Thru, Jim Cornette talked about Tony Khan’s social media meltdown. Cornette believed that a lot of things eventually built up and caused Khan to explode on social media, adding that he believes Tony Khan needs counseling and confinement, among other things.
“He’s on Cagematch and he’s on Twitter – he just fired his biggest star (CM Punk), but he got another one to replace him, Edge, and he’s about to make his TV debut on a show that’s gonna get its f****** ass kicked in the goddamn ratings, and he’s got time to do this?”
“I can tell you with some level of certainty from having experienced it, when you’ve got all kinds of stress and a lot of s**** pissing you off, sometimes it’s one of the most minor little things that just sends you bubbling right over the top of ‘pissed off hill’ into ‘violence valley’.”
“And then you either, since Tony’s not a violent person, you either lash out with a baseball bat… or you get on Twitter I guess. But it could be a little thing on top of a whole mountain of bigger things. But he may need rest, confinement, treatment, counseling, chemicals, some of these things.”
AEW also doesn’t have any approval procedure in place for Tony Khan’s tweets on social media. Regardless, only time will tell whether Tony Khan will learn from his mistakes and be more selective with his tweets on social media.
