AEW Fight Forever is out, and the ratings are in. The overall score of 6/10 on IGN, and many more reviews like it, left gamers wishing that AEW brought more to the table. Now we have a bit more information on what is going on after the game’s release.
Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW has mostly stopped promoting and pushing for their Fight Forever video game. That being said, all hope is not lost.
The outlet noted that AEW Fight Forever was introduced this year with modest fan attention, respectable reviews, and some sales achievements. There have been inquiries from our audience regarding the game’s future, as it was initially intended to be a single release with ongoing updates. However, AEW seemed to slightly backpedal on this notion as the release date approached.
“Those that we’ve spoken to said that the game hasn’t been much of a topic of conversation after the first month or so, but here was a heavy internal push to promote the game, especially at talent meetings immediately following the release. However, it doesn’t appear that work is done on the game.”
It was also reported that, “over the last few weeks, there have been scans done from new talent with plans to add them to the game.” This could be good news for gamers who really want to see their favorite AEW stars in the Fight Forever video game, but they haven’t made the roster yet.
AEW had a lot of hype behind their Fight Forever video game for a long time. After years of development, it finally released to lackluster response. The Stadium Stampede add-on was a benefit, and it did spike interest a bit, but that kind of gimmick in a pro wrestling game can only have so much longevity. We can only hope that AEW figures out the right formula, because the video game market can be very tricky.
We will have to see if AEW Fight Forever sales pick up again. They certainly have a few happy fans who can’t wait to see what kind of content they have in the pipeline.
