Ringside News exclusively reported that Nick Aldis was not brought into WWE to be an on-screen talent. They actually had a few options, and kicked some ideas around, but Aldis was the name they stuck with.
Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that Nick Aldis has now signed with WWE. He is now full-time with the company.
After years of rumored interest from WWE in Nick Aldis, the former NWA and TNA World Champion, Aldis joined the company this Summer as a producer. Up until this week, it was on a trial basis, but we can confirm that he’s signed on with WWE in an official capacity and is no longer a free agent.
Aldis was not listed on the Smackdown producer reports, and we’ll have a clearer picture of if he’ll continue in that role in the coming weeks. However, he was revealed on the October 13 episode of Smackdown as the new Smackdown GM. Adam Pearce has produced and worked as an on-screen talent for years. However, MVP was originally brought in as a producer before moving to an exclusively to an on-screen role.
Those backstage in WWE have told us that Aldis has been easy to work with and willing to make the most of the WWE opportunity, and others have said that he was eager to make that work in whatever role he was given.
Nick Aldis’ first line of business was bringing Kevin Owens onto the SmackDown roster. Then he booked Charlotte Flair in a WWE Women’s Title match against IYO Sky for next week.
Nick Aldis adds a lot of veteran experience to the roster, and it seems that he could be a perfect fit for the job. Like Adam Pearce, he is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He also never had the run in WWE as an in-ring competitor, but he is certainly making a big impression right now.
We will have to see what Nick Aldis does next in WWE. He is just getting started, and he has a great resume behind him, and now he is with WWE full-time.
