AEW has made a few interesting decisions over the past few months, and a few of those moves have concerned their booking. The International Title has changed hands a few times as well, and there is a lot to unpack there.
It was previously reported that Rey Fenix may have lost the International Title, because he was having visa issues. That being said, AEW was forced to go an alternate route with the International Title, as Jon Moxley’s concussion got in the way, and now the title is back on Orange Cassidy after Mox couldn’t get cleared in time to wrestle at Title Tuesday.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that AEW had different plans for the International Title. That being said, Orange Cassidy may not get his wish to beat Jon Moxley next time around if they face off at Full Gear.
“Orange Cassidy beat Rey Fenix to win the International title. Fenix had been working with a bad back, or hip, or both.”
“The hope was to have Jon Moxley win the title from Fenix and defend against Cassidy, likely on the PPV. Unless plans change, that match would still happen, but with Cassidy as champion.”
AEW President Tony Khan has been driving a lot of attention as well. Tony Khan’s recent social media activity has seen him call WWE higher-ups “bald assholes.” TK took a shot at Shawn Michaels’ booking for NXT. He also had lot to say about Vince McMahon’s controversies. He followed that up by shading The Undertaker and John Cena for not pulling 1 million viewers for the October 10th episode of NXT.
WWE even saw his tweets directed at Triple H and Shawn Michaels as a declaration of war. Now, it appears that they will have a lot more to this story, and Tony Khan has a lot of things to consider when booking his next company’s next move.
