AEW has been involved in a legal battle featuring Luchasaurus’ mask for a while now. There has been a lot of development on the ongoing case so far. Now it seems AEW and Composite Effects have reached a settlement regarding a lawsuit concerning Luchasaurus’ mask design.
As previously reported, on December 20, 2022, Composite Effects LLC filed a legal complaint against AEW and wrestler Austin Matelson Luchasaurus) alleging that the design of the Luchasaurus mask is protected by copyright and that it is being used for merchandise without the designer’s permission.
AEW then had moved to dismiss five of the six counts raised by Composite Effects. A judge would then deny the motion to dismiss the lawsuit. According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, AEW and Composite Effects (CFX) have reached a settlement in their dispute over the merchandising rights to the Luchasaurus mask.
