WWE is in the midst of a new era, and that came with a ton of changes. Not only do they have a new parent company, but Vince McMahon’s role in the company’s creative direction is greatly diminished. All of those things ended up being ingredients that brought a big morale boost within the company.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that, Endeavor holds “a positive view of Triple H.” That being said, morale has been up in recent weeks, which could coincide with rumors that he was “knighted” by WWE’s parent company.
Morale has experienced an uplift in recent weeks, particularly following the September 25th episode of WWE Raw. The outlet went on to say that many WWE talent contacted us in response to recent reports, expressing a similar sentiment.
One WWE higher up also noted that there is a lot to be happy about right now in WWE. Not only do they have several hot stories going, but they also have a refreshed roster with a couple recent returns to television.
“I think you can take a look at the show — Johnny Gargano is back after his return was nixed. Tegan Nox is on the show. Dragon Lee is all over the program. Carlito is finally factored in after being under contract for months. Cameron Grimes got back on TV. Bronson Reed is winning matches. Tag team titles and IC titles are getting long matches to end Raw. I’m not going to say that all of those are direct results of the situation, but all of those parts moving at the same time is a little too much to be a coincidence for me.”
One WWE talent reportedly said that their feeling is that “most people on the roster felt a sense of relief when McMahon retired, from both a moral and creative standpoint. They said that answering for Vince McMahon’s behavior isn’t what most of them signed up for, and beyond that, there wasn’t a lot of creative confidence in him.”
Vince McMahon reached a settlement in a lawsuit with former referee Rita Chatterton, who accused him of sexual assault in the 1980s. McMahon’s attorney argued that he did so to avoid the expenses of legal proceedings. In total, McMahon has paid out more than $30 million in settlements and other nondisclosure agreement payments related to personal misconduct.
After appearing on television without a clear reason following these events, Vince McMahon was encouraged to retire. He did so for approximately five months before forcefully reasserting his presence in the company.
Vince McMahon’s departure and return also prompted a similar pattern with his daughter, Stephanie McMahon. She left the company in 2022 during an investigation into her father, only to return to fill the void he left. Subsequently, she departed again in 2023, shortly after Vince McMahon announced his intention to return to the company. Now, her husband, Triple H, is running the show on television, and it appears that things are going quite well without Mr. McMahon’s hands in the creative day-to-day.
