WWE has a lot of people that they are keeping their eyes on. Their NIL deals allow them to secure possible talent that could be huge stars in the future. Now, we have a big update after AJ Ferrari was accused of a terrible crime.
AJ Ferrari faced sexual assault allegations by Stillwater, Oklahoma police following an investigation related to a July 2nd incident. Consequently, he was removed from the Oklahoma State wrestling team. A warrant for Ferrari’s arrest was issued on August 3rd. He posted a $25,000 bail on August 4th and entered a not guilty plea on August 11th.
The Oklahoman reports that charges against WWE NIL signee AJ Ferrari were dropped in Payne County District Court after a 15-month investigation. Ferrari was removed from Oklahoma State University’s wrestling team after they learned of a sexual assault investigation against him.
District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas filed a motion to conclude the case, citing the immense suffering endured by the young woman at the center of the matter. She had faced severe attacks on social media, ongoing trauma, blame, harassment, isolation, and indirect threats to her career. After consulting with her family, she decided that her well-being, cherished career, and the hatred she encountered were more significant than further involvement in the case.
Ferrari’s attorney, Derek Chance, denied his client’s involvement in harassing the victim and expressed gratitude for the District Attorney’s decision to dismiss the case. Ferrari had suffered a serious injury in a car accident in Oklahoma in January 2021, which was documented by ESPN. He was signed to WWE’s NIL program in December 2020, offering a pathway from collegiate athletics to WWE.
We will have to see what is next for AJ Ferrari. He may have WWE interest still, but we have not heard of any plans to use him at this point. Obviously, that could change after he gets this situation in his past.
