Rick Boogs was previously known as Eric Bugenhagen in WWE’s NXT brand. However, he was then called up to the main roster as he made his debut on Friday Night Smackdown back in May 2021. He never got to accomplish much in the company and was subsequently released last month. That said, Boogs unveiled when his non-compete clause will end.
The former Eric Bugenhagen didn’t stay silent for long after his release, as Boogs claimed that his WWE release was due to backstage political power play. He even added that someone in WWE had weird grudge against him.
While speaking in a new workout video, Rick Boogs stated that he can’t talk about WWE right now and revealed that his non-compete clause will end on December 21st this year.
“I know people are like, ‘You’re not in WWE anymore, let’s talk about it.’ I can’t, guys. I’m technically still under contract for three months. My birthday is December 21 and as a birthday present, I’m free from my contract, basically. My birthday, December 21, that’s when I’m free from my contract. Until then, I’m still under contract.”
Ringside News also exclusively reported that there was disbelief backstage in WWE after what Rick Boogs had to say regarding a political power play in the company. Only time will tell what will become of Boogs, but it is unlikely he’ll be returning to WWE anytime soon.
