WWE designated Tuesday nights for NXT, so AEW drew a lot of attention to themselves when they announced Dynamite Title Tuesday for October 10th. WWE seems fully engaged in this wrestling competition, employing various strategies.
The upcoming October 10th episode of WWE NXT is set to feature an impressive lineup including John Cena, Paul Heyman, Cody Rhodes, Asuka, and possibly The Undertaker. This star-studded roster is a noteworthy addition to any premium live event, and will take place at the WWE Performance Center’s NXT Arena this week.
In addition to the high-caliber talent on NXT, WWE intends to broadcast the first thirty minutes of the show without any commercial interruptions. This approach aims to minimize opportunities for viewers to switch over to Dynamite.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW is doing their own thing with a tricky programming tactic. They are getting a ten-minute overrun for the show to combat NXT’s commercial-free first thirty minutes.
“With both companies looking to load up both shows, and NXT going commercial free, we’ve also confirmed that AEW has secured a ten-minute overrun for AEW Dynamite.”
We will have to see how AEW uses their ten-minute overrun this week for Dynamite. Title Tuesday could be quite a show, and odds are they really want to do something in the nature of competition with NXT.
AEW and NXT haven’t gone head-to-head in a while. AEW won that first battle on Wednesday nights, but NXT carved out a spot for themselves on Tuesdays. Only time will tell how this week turns out, but tomorrow night could be a very busy one.
