“Stone Cold” Steve Austin and so many other Superstars from WWE’s Attitude Era were responsible for being bad influences for children all over. Countless detentions were handed out to students who mimicked Steve Austin and DX, and now it turns out that the NFL is issuing a fine for the same reason.
We previously reported that Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs recreated a famous Steve Austin beer bash after a touchdown. That did not go unnoticed, and the clip went viral. Now, he’s paying for it.
The NFL imposed a $13,659 fine on Stefon Diggs due to his “Stone Cold” Steve Austin celebration during the game against the Miami Dolphins on October 1st.
Following his touchdown, Stefon Diggs retrieved a couple of beers from the crowd and playfully smashed them together as a tribute to Steve Austin. That was all in good fun, but they call the NFL “the No Fun League” for a reason.
NBC Sports reports that the NFL opted to penalize Stefon Diggs with a financial penalty for his celebratory actions, akin to a “stunner” move in wrestling. Obviously, some pro wrestling and Buffalo Bills fans might be a bit upset about this move. If anything, it ensures that there aren’t likely to be any copycat beer bashes.
