Cody Rhodes, the wrestling sensation who made shockwaves with his return to WWE, has clarified his stance on serving as a liaison for AEW talent looking to make the switch to the WWE.

While Rhodes has been enjoying an incredible run in WWE since his comeback at WrestleMania 38, he wants everyone to know he won’t be the bridge for AEW stars eyeing a move to the big leagues.

In a surprising move last year, Rhodes bid farewell to AEW, leaving fans worldwide in disbelief, as many assumed he’d be an AEW lifer under Tony Khan’s banner. Fast forward over a year, and several AEW talents, including Jade Cargill and Brian Pillman Jr., have followed Rhodes’ lead and joined the WWE ranks.

Speaking at a press conference after WWE Fastlane, Rhodes expressed his pride in Jade Cargill, who took the bold step of joining WWE to further her career. However, Rhodes was quick to set the record straight, stating that he won’t be playing matchmaker for AEW talents hoping to switch sides to WWE.

While Rhodes acknowledged Cargill’s roots at the Nightmare Factory, he was upfront in clarifying that he didn’t personally train her. He emphasized his excitement for her leap into the WWE world but made it clear that he won’t be the go-between for AEW stars interested in WWE.

Rhodes also praised the teamwork mentality within WWE, noting a significant shift from his previous stints in the company. Nonetheless, he emphasized that it’s not his responsibility to facilitate the transition of AEW peers or anyone else into WWE. In his own words, “It’s not going to be my job to be the liaison to my former peers or whomever. I would hope everyone does what’s right for them. It’s what’s right for you.”

”Full disclosure. Uce and I may have had a libation or two on the bus. That said, I was very excited for her to make this jump and very proud. Jade came from the Nightmare Factory, but I didn’t train her. I’m going to tell people in the future when I write my book, maybe I did. QT Marshall set her up and trained her and helped her to get the spot where she took this big leap.

I’m just very proud. Now, the work begins. There is a mindset here at WWE that did not exist, maybe it did and I didn’t notice it, but didn’t exist when I was here the first time and it is the most team-minded group that I’ve ever seen as far as the show comes together. This is an individual business, it’s tricky, it’s political, it’s show business. That team mindset, what we have, has proved to be so fruitful. Now, I just hope she can rise to the challenge and occasion. I think, for sure, she’ll be able to.

It’s not going to be my job to be the liaison to my former peers or whomever. I would hope everyone does what’s right for them. It’s what’s right for you.”

As for Rhodes’ own journey, he’s been making headlines in WWE, recently clinching the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships alongside Jey Uso at the WWE Fastlane Premium Live Event. The wrestling world eagerly anticipates how this championship run will unfold as Rhodes continues to make his mark in WWE.
