Big Bill and Ricky Starks defeated FTR in under five minutes on AEW Collision, with Dax Harwood taking the brunt of the offense. Considering the match’s style and CM Punk’s departure from the company, questions came quick about FTR’s future.

Sean Sapp provided some insight on the matter behind Fightful’s paywall. It appears that FTR were in favor of this title change. They wanted Collision to feel special with this moment. There is also speculation that Cash Wheeler may be injured.

We’re told FTR were in favor of the match going the way that it did, and the hope was that it could help make Collision feel special and different.

There were some ears perked up regarding CMFTR being trademarked by Dax Harwood, but several sources pointed out that FTR could use the name outside of AEW or in New Japan Pro Wrestling. FTR have been on top of their trademarks since before leaving WWE.

There has been speculation that Cash could be injured after it appeared so in his match last week at WrestleDream and since he didn’t take offense tonight. We’ve not confirmed that as of yet.

It was also noted that FTR’s contract with AEW extends until 2027, and their relationship with AEW has been smooth. Initially, there were talks about a match between FTR and the Young Bucks at AEW Full Gear, but it doesn’t seem to be on the horizon anymore.

We will have to see what happens in this situation next. Obviously, AEW has a lot of options with their titles, but FTR are no longer champions.
