The wrestling world has been abuzz with speculation and excitement regarding CM Punk’s potential return to WWE ever since his departure from AEW earlier last month. Recently, Corey Graves added fuel to the fire by dropping a significant reference to CM Punk during the broadcast of Friday Night Smackdown. Now, he has taken to Twitter to clarify his comments and provide some context.

During this week’s episode of Smackdown, Corey Graves used a famous quote associated with CM Punk during his time in Ring of Honor. Graves said, “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was making the world forget that he existed,” while hyping up the Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match at WWE Fastlane.

Naturally, this remark sent fans into a frenzy, especially since it marked the third week in a row that WWE had dropped hints about CM Punk. However, Graves decided to set the record straight on Twitter. He informed fans that the quote is from the 1995 classic film ‘The Usual Suspects,’ where Kevin Spacey’s character famously utters the same exact line.

You guys should really see The Usual Suspects.

CM Punk is believed to have sent out feelers to gauge WWE interest as well. Ringside News has exclusively reported that there are no talks between WWE and CM Punk for a return. Regardless, it remains to be seen whether Punk will ever make his way back to WWE.
