During WWE SmackDown this week, an injury angle went down, which left Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio without a third partner for their upcoming match at Fastlane. They are scheduled to face Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits in a six-man tag team match. Rey Mysterio mentioned that he was making a phone call and proceeded to do so. It remains to be seen who he contacted and whether they will join the team.
As fans wondered who would step up as the LWO’s mystery partner, many thought that they knew already. Strangely enough, this match started as a 2-on-3 handicap match without anyone coming down to join Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar.
Then, when the time came, fans in Indianapolis still popped in a huge way when Carlito made his return to the ring. Of course, Rey Mysterio had to take a lot of damage, as the heel stable took advantage of the situation for a bit.
Carlito looks to be in great shape. He impressed fans and WWE higher-ups alike with his brief Backlash appearance in Puerto Rico. Now, he is apparently back with WWE on a much more consistent basis.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that, “For those asking about the status of Carlito, he has been signed for several months.” It appears that long wait for his comeback is finally over.
Carlito trended in a big way as fans anticipated his return to the company. He certainly impressed with his return, and we can only assume that this is only the beginning for him.
