WWE has a lot of great talent in NXT, and some of them are ready for the main roster. A handful entered NXT already ready for the main roster, and it appears that Dragon Lee’s tenure in NXT is already over.
Shawn Michaels has spoken very highly about Dragon Lee during press conferences. Sadly, his time working with Dragon Lee was not meant to be a long one.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Dragon Lee is on the WWE main roster now. It appears that he was called up after his work with Dominik Mysterio brought a lot of positive reactions internally.
Dragon Lee did so well with Dominik that it looks like he’s now on the main roster. The nature of the deal he signed did indicate he’d be on the main roster after one year in NXT to begin with, but the match with Dominik may have sped up his timetable. He was legitimately debating between AEW and WWE last year when both made their offers and WWE did indicate main roster money in the deal for year two. Lee asked around and was told that AEW was oversaturated with talent and WWE would be best for him. In Mexico, a lot of people were looking at how Dragon Lee and Bandido, who started at similar times, did, respectively. Bandido was slowed down by injuries but at this point Lee is ahead.
It wasn’t expected that Dragon Lee would spend much time on the NXT brand. He came into the company with a higher contract than many in the NXT brand, so his call-up isn’t a huge surprise. He also entered WWE with a ton of experience and ability.
Dragon Lee’s main roster debut was a quiet one, as he was introduced as an NXT Superstar. It appears that he will stick around the main roster. Only time will tell how he falls into place on the main roster, but the company has been looking for their next major masked Superstar for years.
