Matt Riddle was released from WWE, and his name was a bit of a shock. The Original Bro was still featured on television, and he was in the middle of a storyline with Drew McIntyre. He was fired after over two dozen incidents where he got heat backstage, and he burned too many chances with the company. That being said, certain plans were nixed.
Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE was not intending for Matt Riddle’s team with Drew McIntyre to be a copy of RKBro. That being said, they bounced a few ideas around.
Wrestle Votes noted on X that WWE had plans at one point to call Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre’s tag team “McRiddle.” Obviously, those plans never came to fruition.
Prior to his departure from the company, I’m told there were significant plans for a Matt Riddle / Drew McIntyre tag team. So much so, various merchandise items were designed with the team name……. “McRiddle.”
This is not a joke.
Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE never intended on an RKBro reunion, even with Randy Orton’s impending return to the company. There are plans for The Viper’s return, but obviously, Matt Riddle won’t be around.
We will have to see when Randy Orton makes his return to WWE. That moment will be a big one, but he won’t have Matt Riddle around. That being said, Drew McIntyre is still around, and he’s also teasing a new chapter in his WWE career, one where he takes a heel turn in the process.
We will have continued coverage of WWE, and the entire pro wrestling world, right here at Ringside News. As always, hang out with us in our live results section during WWE RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and every premium live event.
