Sammy Guevara became one of the most beloved stars in AEW, mainly thanks to his solid in-ring prowess. He betrayed Chris Jericho at AEW Grand Slam and faced off against him and Kenny Omega at AEW WrestleDream. He was also pulled from his scheduled match on Dynamite this week and now the reason has been revealed – he suffered a concussion during AEW WrestleDream.
As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Sammy Guevara and Konosuke Takeshita were set to square off against Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega in a tag team match. However, Don Callis came out and announced that Guevara was not medically cleared to wrestle. He would be replaced by Kyle Fletcher in the match.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Sammy Guevara suffered a concussion during the 3-man tag team match at AEW WrestleDream last week.
“Sammy got a concussion on the pay-per-view, is what happened. So he’s out until… it’s a concussion story – could be next week, could be… who knows. But yeah, he’s out.”
This is certainly unfortunate news as fans were eager to see how Sammy Guevara would be booked as part of the Don Callis family in the coming weeks. Only time will tell when he will be able to make hs return to the squared circle, as concussions are a very serious matter.
