Mercedes Mone worked hard to establish herself as one of the most recognizable female pro wrestlers in the world right now. She made her way to NJPW and STARDOM – becoming a major star in Japan. Mone has been out of action due to a broken ankle injury and now she was spotted no longer wearing a medical boot.
Mercedes Mone squared off against Willow Nightingale at the NJPW Resurgence event, in order to crown the first NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion. While Mone lost the match, she also suffered an ankle injury and had to be carried to the back.
Mercedes Mone underwent surgery for the injury and has since been recuperating. As revealed by her appearance on a recent podcast, Mercedes Mone was seen no longer wearing a medical boot as she looked to be in high spirits.
A broken ankle injury, particularly in cases of surgical intervention, can necessitate a recovery period of up to six months for athletes before they can safely return to their competitive activities. With Mercedes already being out of action for four months, her return to pro wrestling could be nearing sooner than you think.
This is certainly a good sign that Mercedes Mone is recovering at a great pace, but that doesn’t mean she is medically cleared for an in-ring return just yet. When she does, Tony Khan will certainly try his best to get her to debut in AEW.
