Your hosts for today’s event are Vic Joseph and Booker T. To kick things off, let’s take a moment to recap what happened at the recent No Mercy event.
Becky Lynch, the NXT Women’s Champion, stepped into the ring and declared that she is still the champion. However, due to the brutal Extreme Rules match at No Mercy, she’s not medically cleared to compete. She also mentioned that she ensured Tiffany Stratton wouldn’t be able to compete either because of their intense match. Becky emphasized her commitment to giving her all in the ring and encouraged her opponents to do the same, acknowledging that Tiffany did just that.
Becky expressed her desire to elevate the NXT Women’s Championship to new heights and mentioned her interest in defending the title anywhere she can. She specifically pointed to night one of Halloween Havoc as a potential opportunity. However, she noted a roadblock in the form of Tegan Nox.
Lyra Valkyria interrupted Becky, expressing her gratitude for Becky’s NXT debut inspiring her to pursue a career in wrestling. She acknowledged Becky as “The Man” and highlighted the impact Becky had on Irish wrestling. Lyra shared a heartfelt story about a show in Ireland and expressed her eagerness to face Becky one-on-one.
Indi Hartwell then made her entrance, reminding Becky that she shocked the world by winning the NXT Women’s Championship at Stand and Deliver and that she never lost the title. Indi emphasized her deep connection to NXT and the fans, declaring her intention to reclaim the championship.
Roxanne Perez interrupted, praising Becky for her accomplishments and expressing her desire to challenge for the Women’s title at Halloween Havoc. She conveyed her respect for Becky and her determination to succeed.
Becky Lynch responded by proposing a Triple Threat match for tonight’s show, with the winner earning a shot at her NXT Women’s Championship on night one of Halloween Havoc. She then shifted the focus to a video showcasing the participants in the Breakout Tournament, followed by a glimpse of the tournament bracket.
At the start of the match, Butch wasted no time going after Joe. He followed up with a clothesline on Mark. Butch then headed to the apron, where he delivered punches to Wolfgang and kicked Mark. However, Wolfgang quickly turned the tables by clotheslining Butch back into the ring.
Mark got the tag and executed a shoulder tackle, sending Butch into the turnbuckles. Wolfgang tagged back in, and the two of them double-teamed Butch. Wolfgang added a knee drop and began to choke Butch. Mark tagged in once more, Irish whipped Butch, and then tagged Wolfgang back in.
Mark continued the assault, kicking Butch, and Wolfgang applied an armbar. Butch fought back with forearms and chops to Wolfgang, followed by a wrist lock and some punishment to the fingers. Butch put Wolfgang’s hand on the mat and stomped on his shoulder. Bate tagged in, and they both targeted Wolfgang’s arms, stomping on them.
Bate attempted to lift Wolfgang, but Wolfgang countered with an uppercut. Bate responded with a knee lift and a corkscrew back elbow. They managed to send Wolfgang out of the ring and then proceeded to pull at Mark’s hands. Bate and Butch followed up with synchronized jabs to Wolfgang.
And with that, we cut to a commercial break.
As we return from the commercial break, Tyler Bate lands a punch on Mark, but Mark prevents Bate from making the tag and sends him into the ropes. This allows Wolfgang to tag in, and the referee deals with Wolfgang, giving Joe the opportunity to punch Bate. Ilja Dragunov is seen walking backstage as we head into another commercial break.
As we return, Roxanne Perez is seen backstage, preparing for her match later tonight.
NXT Men’s Champion, Ilja Dragunov, enters the ring and addresses the audience. He goes by various names – the Mad Dragon, the Tsar, Unbesiegbar – but tonight, they can welcome him as their new NXT Champion. Ilja acknowledges the fierce battle he had with Carmelo Hayes at No Mercy, pushing him to his limits. Despite being in excruciating pain, Ilja stands as their champion, fulfilling his destiny to elevate the title.
North American Champion, Trick Williams, makes his way to the ring and congratulates Ilja on his victory. Trick explains that he’s not here because of Ilja’s championship win but because he won the North American title. He thanks Ilja for inspiring his transformation since Heatwave, and now he holds gold, aiming to continue his upward trajectory.
Ilja inquires about Trick’s gratitude, and Trick attributes his change to what he witnessed from Ilja at Heatwave. He claims that this version of Trick is all thanks to Ilja and hints at his future success. Ilja commends Trick’s achievement and humorously notes that Trick “whooped that trick” at No Mercy.
Carmelo Hayes interrupts and heads to the ring, questioning Trick’s thanks to Ilja. Hayes appreciates Ilja’s victory and emphasizes that he always believed in Trick’s championship potential. He acknowledges their shared journey and expresses the significance of defending a title. Trick challenges Hayes’s assertion, asking if he’s implying that Trick isn’t ready for Dominik.
Ilja presses Hayes to explain further, but he decides it’s none of Ilja’s concern and a discussion between champions. He advises Trick to resolve things before coming after him. Trick warns Ilja not to provoke the situation further, suggesting that if Ilja wants a rematch, it’s fine, but Trick feels ready for the challenge. Hayes recommends that Trick focus on Dominik before thinking about another match with Ilja.
Dominik Mysterio makes his entrance and joins the conversation, advising Trick to heed Hayes’s advice. He emphasizes the difference between winning a title and defending it, especially with him as the challenger.
Trick questions if Dom always listens to his mother’s orders. Dom asserts his independence, claiming to be all man. Trick suggests that Dom’s reliance on his mother is his problem and announces his intention to face Dom and kick his ass tonight.
Dom responds by saying he promised his mother and “THE Judgment Day” that he would bring home the gold. Hayes interjects, saying that’s not happening and that Dom doesn’t stand alone. He offers to be in Trick’s corner for tonight’s match. Dom questions if Trick, now a champion, is still in Melo’s shadow.
Trick declines Hayes’s offer, asserting that he earned his title on his own and will defend it by himself.
