CM Punk was fired by AEW earlier last month and since then fans have started speculating where he would end up next. While WWE seems to be the obvious choice, some believe he might just go to Impact Wrestling. Now an Impact Wrestling star has stated that Punk would be welcomed in the promotion as well.
It was previously reported that Impact Wrestling is intrigued by the idea of making an offer to CM Punk. The company was also strongly advised to sign the Second City Saint if possible.
While speaking with WhatCulture, Impact Wrestling star Josh Alexander was asked if CM Punk would be welcomed into an Impact Wrestling locker room. Alexander made it clear that Punk would be welcomed with open arms.
“CM Punk? Yeah, absolutely. I don’t think you can question the guy’s star power, his ability to get eyes on a product or a company. I saw Bully Ray recently say the exact same thing. You can say whatever you want [about him], but I wasn’t in those locker rooms seeing what had happened or transpired or the drama of everything that unfortunately occurred since his return, but I know who I am as a professional and an individual in this company and I think I would work synergistically with a guy like CM Punk. Of course, we’re both Bret Hart fans, so that might help. But I would love the opportunity to get in the ring with him, have a program with him in IMPACT Wrestling or anywhere else.”
That said, WWE is keeping the CM Punk references coming every week. WWE doesn’t view signing CM Punk to be on the same level as Cody Rhodes. We’ll have to see what will become of Punk in the end.
